Launch of PlayStation
The PlayStation was launched in Japan on December 3, 1994, North America on September 9, 1995, Europe on September 29, 1995, and Oceania in November 15, 1995. The launch price in the American market was US$299 and Sony enjoyed a very successful launch with titles of almost every genre, including Battle Arena Toshinden, Warhawk, Air Combat, and Philosoma, and Ridge Racer. Almost all of Sony's and Namco's launch titles went on to spawn numerous sequels.

The PlayStation was also able to generate interest with a unique series of advertising campaigns. Many of the ads released at the time of launch were full of ambiguous content which had many gamers rabidly debating their meanings. The most well-known launch ads include the "Enos Lives" campaign, and the "U R Not e" ads. It is believed that these ads were an attempt to play off the gaming public's suspicion towards Sony as an unknown, untested entity in the video game market.

The CD player has the ability to shuffle the playback order, play the songs in a programmed order, and repeat one song or the entire disk. This function, as well as a memory card manager, can be accessed by starting the console without inserting a game, therefore accessing a system menu with a dark blue background and buttons that are designed like rainbow graffiti. If a game is put in the system at any time on the menu, the game will immediately start.

The Nintendo DS is a latest and most popular gaming technology of today game zone. It is a dual-screen handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. The console features a clamshell design, similar to the Game Boy Advance SP, with two LCD screens inside—with the bottom one being a touch screen. The Nintendo DS also features a built-in microphone and supports wireless IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standards, allowing players to interact with each other within short range (10–30 m, depending on conditions) or online with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, which launched later in the console's lifespan.

Nintendo DS was released in 2004 in Canada, the United States, and Japan. The system's code name was Nitro. PictoChat allows users to communicate with other Nintendo DS users within local wireless range. Users can enter text , handwrite messages or draw pictures. There are four chatrooms (A, B, C, D) in which people can go to chat. Up to sixteen people can connect in any one room.

* Compatibility
The Nintendo DS is backwards compatible with Game Boy Advance (GBA) cartridges. The smaller Nintendo DS game cards fit into Slot 1 on the top of the system, while Game Boy Advance games fit into Slot 2 on the bottom of the system.

* Regional division
The Nintendo DS is region free in the sense that any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world. With the addition of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, certain games can be played over the Internet with users of a different region game. The Nintendo DSi, however, will have region block for the DSiWare downloadable games, and perhaps DSi-specific cartridges. It still will run older DS games of any region.
